Help place Veterans’ Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of our American heroes buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, December 17, 2016

All,

We have a fantastic NSL group of 50+ lined up for Wreaths Across America (WOA) at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) next Saturday.  Chapter Secretary, Dixon Hicks, will be the coordinator on scene.  You should expect a lot of people converging on the cemetery, so give yourself ample time on both ends of the trip.  Dress for the weather and wear shoes for climbing up and down hills that can be comprised of thick, wet grass.

  • Here is the link that provides all the WOA details for ANC.  It has great information and pictures including a map and app to find specific gravesites.  I think you will get the most out of the experience if you take some time to look it over, http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/volunteer-at-arlington.
  • Plan to meet up as a group on the entrance steps to the ANC Welcome Center (http://ancexplorer.army.mil/publicwmv/) between 0830-0845.  The truck convey is planned for 0815-0830 (it occurred around 0900 last year).  There is an opening ceremony at the McClellan Gate at 0930 and wreath laying starts at 1000.
  • Dixon  will have a Georgia Tech umbrella  to help you find him.  If you need to get a hold of him the day of the event, call/text his cell,
  • Metro is a popular way for people to get to/from ANC for the wreath laying.  If you would like to avoid metro (the lines at the ANC station for the trip home can be long), I found Pentagon North Parking to work pretty well.  I arrived around 0800 encountering little traffic coming north on I-395 to Route 27.  From there, it is about a 20-min walk to the ANC Welcome Center.

Let Dixon and/or me know if you have any questions or need any help.
