Dixon Hicks has been the NSL Capitol Chapter Secretary since April 2016.Dixon Hicks

Dixon Hicks served 29 years in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force during which he held major command of USS OHIO (SSGN-726) out of Bangor receiving a Meritorious Unit Commendation for multiple deployed operations. He also commanded USS TOPEKA (SSN-754) out of San Diego and USS PORTSMOUTH (SSN-707) in Norfolk. He served as XO on USS OHIO (SSBN 726) in Bangor, Navigator and Operations Officer on USS BUFFALO (SSN 715) in Pearl, and was a junior officer on USS SALT LAKE CITY (SSN 716) in San Diego. While at sea, he completed 9 deployments, three strategic patrols, and 14 missions. His shore experience includes tours on the staffs of OPNAV N97, ASN FM&C, COMSUBRON ELEVEN, and TWO as well as OSD and the Joint Staff (J8).

Upon retiring from the Navy, Dixon has served in several position with various companies to include Cowan & Associates where he served as a Director performing duties related to business development, capture, proposal writing and contract work to include OPNAV N43 (N83), OASD, N9I and N974; Executive Vice President at ELECTROMET Corporation where he led the company and develop and implement effective strategies and solutions to meet the various business challenges to include organizational growth, staffing, structure, and direction; and Cydecor where he was in charge of Business Development, Capture, and Proposal Development.

He holds a Master’s degree in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, Graduate Certificate in Information Policy and Administration from George Mason University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology receiving his commission through the NROTC program.

He and his wife reside in Frederick, Maryland. They have a son who is a police officer and a daughter who is attending William and Mary.
